Tobias Munthe-Kaas has been a powerboatracer for more than half his life. After racing in the V-classes and Offshore he is now racing in the fast and competitive F2 class. This year Tobias will race in the F2 World Championship where he will chase for the podium in his Baba Racing boat.
Tobias Munthe-Kaas started racing in year 2000. He has raced both in Offshore and inshore and has Norwegian Championship titles in both categories. After 5 years of inshore racing in class V25 (now GT30), he moved to offshore where he was crowned Nordic Champion in V50 in 2005. With a few seasons racing both inshore and offshore, Tobias decided to concentrate on inshore and raced in F4s together with the F1 World Championship.
In addition to being a great racer, Tobias is a very social and nice young man and on the F1 tour he quickly got in contact with some of the biggest names in international powerboatracing. Tobias wanted to go faster and in 2013 he bought his first F2 boat from the Baba Racing factory and joined Strømøy Racing.
Step by step Tobias adapted to the much faster F2 boats and got higher and higher up on the ranks of international F2. Together with Strømøy Racing manager and boatbuilder Andrea Colombo, he decided to change his old Baba boat into a brand new one for the 2016 season. Tobias settled quickly in his new boat and had some fantastic moments in the 2016 season.
From being a middle of the field runner to suddenly having one of the fastest boats of the Championship, Tobias is very eager to compete in the F2 World Championship in the 2017 season. With his positive attitude, great team, hard work and dedication he is a great asset to Strømøy Racing.
